Cowbridge Care Home’s well-being coordinators, Lesley and Emma, came up with the idea of organising a social friendship group for the staff and residents of Cornwallis Care Services. The aims behind the idea, were to encourage outings for residents, to provide opportunity for residents to meet new people in new settings and for residents and staff to enjoy some social time, sharing experiences, memories and ideas.
The first of these group gatherings was held at Cowbridge Care Home, who were joined by well-being staff and residents from Meadowbrook House, Trecarrel and Hendra Court. Everyone enjoyed meeting up and having a good old natter over coffee and cake. There were activities for residents to take part in, and the well-being team discussed plans for monthly visits to each others Homes and for a group outing in late September.
Cornwallis Care Services places great importance on the provision of activities to foster and create social interactions and experiences for residents. With recent studies showing that many residents newly admitted to care homes may experience shyness and loneliness when they find themselves suddenly in a strange environment, it is of vital importance for care home staff to have activities in place to create and maintain a nurturing environment.
Thank you to our well-being team and to all our staff who work tirelessly to Make Moments Matter for all our residents.
